About POP 2026: Bituin

  • Our theme this year is Bituin, which is the Tagalog word for “star”.

    • Just like stars, we each carry our own light: unique, powerful, and full of potential. But together, we shine even brighter.

    • This theme celebrates connection, purpose, and legacy— lifting each other up across generations to build a constellation of changemakers.

    • February 20-22, 2026.

    • Ottawa, Ontario, Canada

Conference Overview

  • POP was born from a need for a dynamic space where young Filipino/a/x-Canadians could connect with one another, learn from established leaders, and gain insights into the fields they aspire to excel in.

Our conference has brought together approximately 3,000 youth from across the country (2019-2025) to celebrate their heritage while cultivating the need to lead and innovate in their communities.

    Delegates gain access to:

    • Inspiring panels and hands-on workshops

    • Live performances

    • Direct engagement with local entrepreneurs, national businesses, and global brands

  • Our youth delegates are aged 16 to 30 years old. However, we’ve had younger delegates attend the conference before!

Those wishing to attend who are above this age range can still participate in other meaningful ways such as panellists, workshop facilitators, and community symposium vendors.

  • We typically expect 250 delegates each year, but we’re quickly seeing this grow.

We do our best to allocate enough spaces to ensure that delegates from each province and territory have equal opportunity to attend.

  • If you’re interested in attending but no spots are available, you may add your name to the waitlist.

    • In the case that a delegate foregoes their ticket, a member of the POP team will reach out to the first person on the waitlist to offer them the ticket.

    • Individuals on the waitlist will have 36 hours to accept or decline the ticket before it is offered to the next individual on the list.

  • Expect Ottawa in February to be cold!

    • Make sure to bring your warmest parka, toque/hat, mitts, snow boots, and skates– check if the Rideau Canal is open here.

Conference attire itself will be a mix of smart-casual and business-casual, dependent on the event. Please don’t hesitate to contact our team (via email or Instagram DM) if you have any questions about this.

If you would like to wear traditional attire (barongs, filipiñanas, etc.), we more than encourage you to do so!

    • Many delegates wear their traditional attire throughout the conference, especially at the Welcome Gala on the first night.

  • Dinner will be served during the Welcome Gala on Friday, the first night of the conference.

This year, a light breakfast will be provided in the foyer of the Senate of Canada ahead of our tour on Saturday. There will also be lunch on Saturday, with both breakfast and lunch being provided on Sunday.

Some light snacks will be provided at Club SAW for MYX Night, and the bar will be in full service. Please bring a valid government-issued ID.

There are also plenty of places to eat in downtown Ottawa (where the conference will be taking place), including the Rideau Centre and the Byward Market.

Travel And Accommodations

  • If the participant and their caregivers agree that it’d be a good idea, then yes!

However, we cannot guarantee extra accommodation or travel compensation.

  • We understand that the costs and modes of transportation can be expensive and may prevent people from attending. To help with this problem we’re working with various modes of transport and different businesses for discount codes to help you save on your trip to Ottawa!

    • Registered delegates will be sent updates via email and more information about travel and accommodation once the details are confirmed.

  • Accommodations are not included in registration, but there are many affordable options in Ottawa.

Hotels.com and Expedia.ca offer promotions for accommodations.

Hotels that our delegates have stayed at in the past:

    • Les Suites Hotel Ottawa

    • Delta Hotel City Centre Ottawa

    • Lord Elgin.

If you are traveling as a group, Airbnb has a lot of good options as well. We recommend looking for accommodation in downtown Ottawa.

Neighbourhoods in the city that are closest to the event venues are:

    • Byward Market

    • Centretown

    • The Glebe

    • Sandy Hill

Learn more about some of the different neighborhoods in Ottawa on Ottawa Tourism.

How Can I Get Involved?

  • Although POP is a free event, we understand that the cost of travel and other accommodations may create a barrier for delegates to attend.

We recommend undergraduates refer to their student unions and ask about the funding opportunities available for students attending conferences (yes, these exist!).

However, if you’re still in need of financial assistance, please reach out to our team if you’d like to discuss food, travel, and hotel accommodations, or how you can reach out to your student union!

  • Announcements for next year’s executive team and committee applications will be posted on our website and social media accounts this coming spring. Stay tuned!

In the meantime, Kabangka runs other programming that builds on themes introduced at POP. Check here for upcoming events.

  • We continue to accept donations through e-transfer to pinoysonparliament@kabangka.org!

Any amount that you donate is appreciated and helps us make POP a success.
